Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

Ingredients:

1 1/2 C heavy whipping cream

1 1/2 C half and half (can sub milk)

2/3 C sugar

1 tbsp vanilla (I used Trader Joe's Bourbon Vanilla Bean Paste)

Instructions:
  1. Ensure your ice cream attachment has been in the freezer for a minimum of 16 hours before use

  2. Add your cream, half and half, sugar, vanilla, and salt to a pot on low heat. Allow to heat for about 5 minutes or till you reach 160F. Stir occasionally!

  3. Place your mixture into a glass jar and allow to cool on the countertop or in the fridge.

  4. Finally, assemble your kitchen aid with the ice cream attachment and begin churning on speed 1-2. Add your ice cream mixture and allow to churn for 20-30 minutes.

*If making the banana bread version (recipe below) of this recipe...take 1-2 slices of your cooled banana bread and add it into your mixer on speed 1 allowing it to break up fully.

Remove your ice cream from the mixer and place into an ice cream container and into the freezer for 2-4 hours before serving to allow it to firm up.

Hi, thanks for stopping by!

Healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated! I made it a point to cater my recipes to have minimal ingredients along with little prep time. With most of my recipes I will include optional add on’s that may have extra nutritional benefits but if you don’t have them, the recipe will be just as tasty!
